Something About Me

Welcome to Kathy’s Musings.

January, 2019

Dear Reader: It has been too long since I’ve posted. While there are lots of reasons for this, I’ve decided that even the best of these reasons doesn’t cut it. My slump is over. I’m finding the time. I need to pull myself up by my bootstraps, even if I don’t wear these or even own them. (Although I have worn waders when I volunteered at an aquarium and cleaned penguin poo, but that’s for another time.)

So, I hope to be more attentive to my Blog Site and readers. And if you are interested, I invite you to stroll through my other postings, which are about humor and life (and death) and family and current events and things that may seem ridiculously minor, like my ancient counter-top radio, but end up having significance in the greater scheme of things. It’s in the details, you know?

Not only is writing fun (usually), it helps me draw conclusions about the many facets of life so it’s easier to make sense of it all. My tag line “Everything is temporary!” references a line from one of my all-time favorite films, Moonstruck (1987) starring Cher and Nicolas Cage, Danny Aiello, Vincent Gardenia and Olympia Dukakis.

Here it is, from MOONSTRUCK: (Loretta, talking to her father,  Cosmo, has just announced her engagement)

Cosmo Castorini: It looks stupid. It’s a pinky ring. It’s a man’s ring!

Loretta Castorini: It’s temporary!

Cosmo Castorini: Everything is temporary! That don’t excuse nothin’!

Everything is temporary, except these posts, which I guess are online forever. So read on, and then go watch the movie.

  1. Hi Kathy – Our NCBC president forwarded your blog link to us. (We are no longer in the Ottawa area and have now moved to BC). Enjoyed reading about your Fiesta experience, especially since we were such a big part of it! Thanks for saying all those nice things about us.

Not sure if you are planning on returning to Albuquerque this year, but Dave and I will be there again. You (and your family and friends) are welcome to come crew for us. Despite the move, our e-mail address is the same – skyman@travel-net.com – let us know.

BTW, I also have a WordPress Blog called Chapter 4 – you can find it at http://balloonur.wordpress.com/ – haven’t had a chance to write about balloons yet.

    • Hi Leslie, Thanks so much for your kind words! I am looking forward to reading your postings on balloonur.wordpress.com today, and thank you also for the very kind invitation to crew again. We’ll let you know! You are most kind. I have looked at other web pages for your club members and have seen pictures of new balloons and sky diving. It’s opening up a whole new world for me, but I’m fairly certain I won’t be the one jumping out of an airplane! I’ll continue to enjoy that via watching online.
      Thank you again!
      Kathy
