Something About Me

Welcome to Kathy’s Musings.

October, 2020

Dear Reader: I hope you are muddling through this mess of a year. Writing helps me muddle.

I invite you to stroll through my postings, which are about big things, and humor, of course, and the little things, sometimes ridiculously little, like my ancient counter-top radio. But it’s all in the details, you know?

My tag line, “Everything is temporary!” is from one of my all-time favorite films, Moonstruck (1987) starring Cher and Nicolas Cage, Danny Aiello, Vincent Gardenia and Olympia Dukakis. Thinking about this line lightens 2020 a bit. It helps.

So here’s the line, from MOONSTRUCK: (Loretta, talking to her father,  Cosmo, has just announced her engagement)

Cosmo Castorini: It looks stupid. It’s a pinky ring. It’s a man’s ring!

Loretta Castorini: It’s temporary!

Cosmo Castorini: Everything is temporary! That don’t excuse nothin’!

Everything is temporary — music to my ears right now. So read on and keep muddling. Then go watch the movie.

  1. Hi Kathy – Our NCBC president forwarded your blog link to us. (We are no longer in the Ottawa area and have now moved to BC). Enjoyed reading about your Fiesta experience, especially since we were such a big part of it! Thanks for saying all those nice things about us.

Not sure if you are planning on returning to Albuquerque this year, but Dave and I will be there again. You (and your family and friends) are welcome to come crew for us. Despite the move, our e-mail address is the same – skyman@travel-net.com – let us know.

BTW, I also have a WordPress Blog called Chapter 4 – you can find it at http://balloonur.wordpress.com/ – haven’t had a chance to write about balloons yet.

    • Hi Leslie, Thanks so much for your kind words! I am looking forward to reading your postings on balloonur.wordpress.com today, and thank you also for the very kind invitation to crew again. We’ll let you know! You are most kind. I have looked at other web pages for your club members and have seen pictures of new balloons and sky diving. It’s opening up a whole new world for me, but I’m fairly certain I won’t be the one jumping out of an airplane! I’ll continue to enjoy that via watching online.
      Thank you again!
      Kathy
